Gladiatrix III has been released!

Gladiatrix III has been posted to the vault. We just have to wait for the vault managers to release it. I can't thank all the beta testers enough for all your diligent bug searching. There is no way I could have ever found all this on my own. You guys are the absolute best and I couldn't have done it without you! 

I will continue to keep an eye on the beta blog for any late reports as I see they are still rolling in, but hopefully it will only be very minor things left. Whatever is found I will add to a future update of the module. 

List of What's New in the Full Release
  • A majority of the bugs that were found up to now have been fixed. There were just a few that I was unable to duplicate.
  • Intimate encounter options after the Knaves and Royals game
  • A detailed wizard's tower side quest. Close to another half hour of game play for that.
  • Intimate encounter options with Kelvyn and Emmalynn on the way to Kristaly's airship
  • Intimate encounter option with Kristaly at the Scourge base

General Comments and Feedback


Welcome to the G3 beta test site and thank you for joining! The link to download the beta module is in the upper right of this blog. If you have the gladiatrix4.hak from the preview you'll need to overwrite that file since it's been updated. Please play through the module and report any bugs you come across in the appropriate or closest section below. Also, report if you don't find any bugs. General feedback is more than welcome. 

Things I will fix in order of importance:
  • Show-stopping bugs that don't allow you to continue.
  • Any other bug that interrupts play but you are able to continue through
  • Spelling/Grammar errors.
  • Combat balance problems

If a tester has ideas for enhancements to the module I am open to listening to ideas. Please don't get offended if I am unable to use your suggestion. I really want this module to be close to final, so I don't plan on spending a lot of extra development time. I'll probably only implement an idea if I feel it will greatly enhance the module and not take too long to design.

A couple of things to be aware of:
  • There is a wizard tower side quest on the way to the elven lands that I have not finished. So you will see a wizard's tower on the way but you won't be able to enter it. I plan on building that while beta testing is happening and it should be easy enough to test myself.
  • I still plan on adding a couple of extra intimate encounters. Probably an option after the poker game since that was a popular request. Also, there are two love interests that I need to add intimate encounter options to. These I can test myself. 
  • The Dakari arena fight currently has the potential to be buggy. If one of your characters fall, the opponents will sometimes keep attacking them and that messes things up. Just save before entering the arena. If it happens then simply go back to your save and try again. One or two tries should get you through. I'm still working out the kinks on this one.
  • Landon for some reason is flaky when set to melee. I'm not sure why but he just stands there most of the time. Maybe he's distracted by Sierra and Tessa's armor :) I'm still working on this one. If you set him to ranged attack he behaves.
Gameplay tips:
  • SAVE OFTEN! Just don't save in the middle of a conversation. For testing it would be a good idea to make a save point periodically. For instance, right before entering a major section of the module. 
  • Heirendale will be a key area to set a save point. Decisions you make shortly after entering this town will set the direction of the endgame. 
  • If one of your main character henchmen dies then you'll have to resurrect them or go back to a previous save. The only exception is if a character death is clearly story driven. If you have nameless "grunts" as henchmen then it is okay if they die. 
I hope everyone has fun! I'm looking forward to hearing your comments. If you could sign your name or nickname at the end of your comments that would be great. That way I'll have an idea of who I'm communicating with. 

List of Bugs Already Found

NOTE: The entries that say [FIXED] are for my reference. I haven't uploaded any fixes to the beta copy but they will be applied to the final version of the module.

[General]
  • Landon not attacking when melee. This seems to be a problem with Improved Two-weapon fighting feat [FIXED by removing Two-weapon fighting from feats]
  • Someone drank sterility potion but still got pregnant. [FIXED - Emmalynn's non-pregnant conversation was linking back to the pregnancy tree] 
  • Sex journal runs out of slots to hold new entries. [FIXED - Added a second journal at the start of this module]
  • Tessa has Improved Critical Heavy Crossbow feat. Default rogue file should be adjusted to give her shortbow feats. [FIXED - I think. Adjusted the rogue feat file and crit heavy crossbow.]


[Beginning to Forest of Sorrows]
  • After returning kitty to Lindy she says "here's the glowing rock i promised you for finding him", but in earlier dialog with her Gladiatrix never mentioned that she needed any reward - "Well, if i happen to see him i'll let you know"  [FIXED]
  • Someone got stuck in the doorway of the upper right barn before the creek in Cliffdell. Had to reload to escape [FIXED by removing the barn]
  •  Poker game line about betting extra hundred gold instead of clothes is said by PC instead of one of the men [FIXED]
  • Tessa and Sierra are merged into each other. Check for ghost effect and make sure it is turned off [FIXED - I think. I added scripts to remove cutscene ghost effect after intimate moments with Tessa.]
  • Landon quest didn't complete in the journal [FIXED]
  • Thicket wall east side of Forest of Sorrows can be passed through. [FIXED]


[Valtrescan Tribe]
  • Tessa doesn't always shoot arrows during archery contest or gives opponents a head start [COULD NOT DUPLICATE. Set a clear script on Tessa before the contest just in case she was busy with stealth mode.]
  • If you try to talk to Tessa before your melee competition she gives same dialog when first meeting her [FIXED]
  • Valtrescan Spectators at Dakari tribute match have same dialog as guard that picked you up [FIXED]
  • If Thizbesca dies during Fire Giant battle game can't continue [FIXED - Not sure how she died because she's set to immortal. I gave her more HP and AC.]
  • Fire giants need to be more difficult [FIXED - Added two more fire giants.]
  • Daeline damage reduction against slashing is higher than other types. Need to balance the types. [FIXED]
  • Someone was able to kill Daeline. Adjust her settings or the damage. [FIXED]


[Dakari Tribe]
  • Animals on the path of destruction are dead standing [FIXED. Replaced camels and rhino with landwyrms. 
  • Sex journal mentions nightmare even if you solve the nightmare quest before going to the guest house [FIXED]
  • Demon in dreamscape can target group before the teleport causing the AI to act up. [FIXED - Moved the demon back further on the bridge]
  • Tessa dialog after Landon death not coming up right away. Possibly due to Landon's entangle spell [FIXED. Removed that instance of Landon's ability to cast spells]
  • If you rush into the machine room after scorpion fight the characters might still be in combat state causing Frado conversation to not happen. [FIXED - Moved the Scorpion in further and put a clear action script on all characters when entering the machine room.]
  • You can rest in the sea cavern machine room and recover damage from falling rocks [FIXED]
  • Adjust message on sea cave mission to: You can't equip armor on this mission [FIXED]
  • Landon and Tessa naked after giving up swimsuits when poisoned water quest complete [FIXED I think. Need to test]
  • Need to get rid of water helmets after quest [FIXED]
  • If you kill the gladiator enemies too quickly nothing happens. Talking to the Dakina resets your position
  • After losing melee and transported to the baths Dakina gave dialog that your team won and gave bloodletter. Dakina stood there and when talking to her again, she gave losing speech in the arena [INVESTIGATING - It's possible that if teams fell at the same time that the player would get both the winning and losing variable. Not sure how they got both winning and losing speech since winning variable trumps the losing one. I set a clear script so that the Dakina will leave after talking. Need to test.]
  • When Dakina is abducted if you talk to the guard and don't offer to help, nothing happens. If you speak to him again the conv starts over. [FIXED]
  • Give Taureans guarding the front gates a variety of weapons to counter greater swordsman belt [FIXED]
  • Distracting Tarth with sex refers to the wrong journal entry [CAN'T DUPLICATE. Scripts are set to give the correct entries.]
  • Taurean arena Tarth refers to opponents as Krak and Urak but they are named Krack and Urath. [FIXED]
  • Group is suddenly naked when entering Taurean cavern network [CAN'T DUPLICATE. There isn't a    script to strip the characters going into that area.]       
  • When exiting minotaur caves, Landon is speaking comments that Tessa or Sierra should be speaking [FIXED]
  • ** Leaving Minotaur caves had to talk to Balon a few times to proceed. This might be caused by clicking Balon too fast before conversation proceeds. There is no transition to the city after this. If you then talk to Dakina you get transported back to the caves. [FIXED]
  • If you say you can't accept the Dakari Talisman of Radiance and the Dakar says, "We insist. Refusal is not an option" it never shows up in inventory. [FIXED]
  • UNRECOGNIZED TOKEN in dialog with Cypher after mentioning Keeper of the Forest. [FIXED] 
  • Talking to Landon after removed from party at Shroud HQ gave resurrection dialog. [CAN'T DUPLICATE. The only way I can see this happening is if Landon previously died and then the player escaped out of that death conversation too early before the new variable could be set.]
  • Gaining Audience with Dakar quest not closed in Journal [FIXED]
  • Cypher shirtless when returning to Mystwood. This is if you give in to Cypher's reluctance. [FIXED]


[Sylvandaryn Elves]
  • Floating tree in NW corner of Coastal Borderlands [FIXED]
  • Some of the good elves are fighting nude during drow massacre. [FIXED]
  • After massacre during conversation with king, if elf sage walks through a blade barrier he dies. Adjust distance where he appears and walks up. [FIXED]


[Everdark]
  • Most of the myconids attacked by drow not getting killed. King area attack makes Tessa attack them. [FIXED] 
  • Put a trigger in the Fungus cave before porting to the slave market in case someone accidentally escapes the conversation. [FIXED. Added a jump to slave market on cave entrance at other side of the cavern.]
  • Slave market has a character named "Hooded Figure hoodedfigure" [FIXED]
  • If too quick during slave market conversation the dialog will end before before the character has a chance to walk up. Move approaching characters closer. [FIXED]
  • While in mindflayer lair it shows PC wearing helmet even though it was gone [FIXED]
  • Bladeling too hard [FIXED]
  • "The Hunter" trying to cast spells and getting interrupted by Drider. Given him higher concentration or remove the spells [FIXED]
  • Elder brain massage scene will get stuck if going through dialog too fast [FIXED I think. Shortened the knockdown sequence in case that was causing it.]
  • Player with low lore can't take advantage of sword or other items in illithid complex because they are unable to identify them. Plant a scholar ring somewhere so that they can identify the items. [FIXED - planted a scholar ring in the illithid armory]
  • If Braxton dies in final illithid battle game continues if he isn't resurrect but halts when he doesn't appear later. Make an end game outside illithid complex if he is dead. [FIXED] 
  • In drow city - Entering Devir grounds the gate acted funny, constantly opening and closing and could pass through without hitting the area transition. Could open the doors of other structures but not enter. Consider removing the buildings behind the gate as to not confuse. [FIXED]
  • You can pass through the fence on left side of rival drow grounds to reach two inaccessible buildings in the back [FIXED I think]
  • Destroy House De'Mizzarre not completed in journal [FIXED]
  • Tessa not giving romantic conversation upon rescue if she is the romantic interest. [FIXED]
  • Someone stayed drow color after oil applied. Make sure the color change script is set on all conversation trees.[CAN'T DUPLICATE. Skin color scripts are set to happen if going through the conversations. Not sure what would cause it to misfire unless flying through the conversations caused it not to trigger.]



[Shroud Alliance/War]
  • Conversation thread in Shroud HQ - "Do I get any say so in this?" all options do not continue and conversation starts over  [FIXED]
  • Dinosaurs have same description as Landwyrms [FIXED]
  • Emmalynn is set to True Neutral and can't equip Talisman of Pure Good [FIXED]


[Scourge Alliance/War]
  • Scourge main chamber before meeting Shroud members the scene won't progress because Kristaly seems to be missing. After taking you to Avyndar, Kristaly got stuck in a wall that she walks through. This happened to a couple of players where she leaves after meeting Avyndar. She stays stuck there and never appears when going to meet the Shroud members. [FIXED - I hope. The only way I could duplicate this was speeding through the conversation which could cause Kristaly's dismiss script to not trigger before entering the next area. I moved her dismiss script earlier in the conversation.]
  • Kristaly has weak weapons [FIXED]
